However! Tomite and Hikitsu did have a breif appearance in the old Fushigi Yuugi anime in episode 34. They were ghosts who were guardians of the Shinzahou deep inside a cave. Miaka and her Suzaku seishi had to convince them that they were worthy of the Genbu Shinzahou. Miaka stripped, and Tomite froze her solid. Once she was able to break free, they gave them the shinzahou. Cue happy ending (for Tomi and Hiki at least). The old Fushigi Yuugi anime was long ago dubbed and sold in English, so it is available to buy in either VHS or DVD format. But it's fantastically tacky, and I can't sincerely recommend it to anyone. So maybe just keep your fingers crossed that a snazzy new anime will be produced for the Genbu Kaiden.
