His family and village was destroyed by war and bandits, and so he lived as a near ferral child, eating bones and carcasses just to survive. He is dedicated to Hakei, as he is the one who took him in to feed, train and otherwise civilize him. Although Hakei now wears clean clothes and can probably eat with utensils, he remains a hot-headed and vicious fighter, using some strange clubs to beat people to pulps. He's not terribly patient, and gets annoyed when he has to put up with Shigi taking his time. Hien lost his right forearm in a fight with Uruki, which has put him in a vengeful state. He's since had it replaced with an iron prosthetic, similar to Temudan's. He wants nothing more than to be the one to kill Uruki.
