Inami was, in her youth, part of the royal harem for the Roun family, and is well aware of the countries politics. She was in love with a soldier who supported Lord Temudan and his campaign against the Seishi, so she lived doing her best to hide who she was. At this time, 11 years ago, she was pregnant with her lovers child, but these supporters started a violent rebellion against King Tegiru. To protect her, her soldier boyfriend helped her escape from the palace, but then he was killed before her very eyes. She'd heard rumours of Tegu, and knew what would happen if she revealed herself as a Seishi, so despite her powers, she was unable to save him, or even the life of her unborn child. Alone on the streets of Touran, she nearly froze to death, but was rescued by a woman named Shunu who runs a brothel. The experience, however, led to a miscarriage and she lost her child. In an attempt to protect Taruma, Shunu moves her business south to the capital city of Eiyou in Kounan. When Takiko meets Taruma for the first time, she has taken over Shunu's role and is the brothel madame, in charge of selecting girls, and negotiating with buyers. She is an intelligent, elegant woman, but it's clear she's picked up the cynicism and somewhat gruff attitude of her business. She is no push-over, and her age and experiences have stripped her of naive optimism and easy forgiveness. She fights Takiko over one of her girls, Ruude, and wins, but leaves to tend to a dying Shunu. Only after Shunu's death does she agree to go with Takiko, who reminds her of herself when she was young, and who's determination to give people the chance at a happy life inspires her. Even without her Seishi powers, Inami is a beast of a fighter. She is fierce and tough in combat, often using a sort of giant pipe to beat up her enemies. Prior to joining Takiko, her specific role at the brothels was to be a bodyguard, keeping rough customers in line, and protecting the girls. Her actual power lies hidden in her hair, which can grow to unbelievable lengths and restrain people. Most of the time it sits, inconspicuous, in intricate up-dos. When not in the heat of a fight, Inami becomes somewhat melancholy. She still grieves for the child she never had, and is rather tired of this whole business of living. Being with the seishi is something different and inspiring, but it's hard for her to move past all the negative things that have happened to her. She fills a very different role among the Seishi. She's not there to baby Takiko, or listen to the others complain. As soon as Takiko disappered back to her own world, she returned alone to Touran (getting past Shigi, Hien, Haagasu and all those other Kutou types unscathed) to where she used to work, with the intent of finding Tegu, rather than sit in the forest for months, waiting on the chance of the Priestess coming back. When Takiko reappears, she is quick to help her out, and accepts that Takiko is willing to sacrifice her life. After this it's clear she's come to have a great deal of respect for Takiko, and becomes the stern, voice-of-reason support that Takiko needs most when weak.
