 Oracles & Priestesses
image of the high priestess
This little girl is the High Priestess of Ifurei. She is a holy prophet who uses stones for divination. Many people make piligrimages to Ifurei for healing or guidance. When Takiko and her Seishi arrive, the high priestess is in seclusion, but knowing who Takiko is, allows her to enter the temple. She is not as close to the Gods as Takiko is, so when Takiko asks where the other Seishi are, she is unable to help. She does, however, let Takiko use a stone to visit Rimudo and then advises she visit the High Priestess Anruu for help finding the Seishi.

She helps Takiko by lying to Shigi and Hien when they break into the temple to throw Kutou off the trail of the Seishi. She dies in the process, but while the Kutou army goes ahead looking for the Seishi, Takiko and her people are kept safely hidden away underground.

Unlike the Priestess in Ifurei, Anruu has no interest in sitting in a temple giving out prophecies. She lives in a rock garden outside the city where she watches over Namame. Knowing who and what he was, Anruu used her kindness and patience to make him trust her, and she keeps him from being lonely or getting abused by the general human population.

She couldn't tell Takiko anything about who the Seishi were, but was at least able to point out their current locations on a map for her. Despite Namame's reluctance she tried to convince him to leave her and join the Seishi. Namame's decision was made easier after she gave a prophecy to Shigi and Hien that they didn't like very much. She was promptly killed, and with her last breaths gave Takiko her sacred necklace that would allow her to speak with Namame and locate the other Seishi.

In fact, she works for Temudan and was the one to give the prophecy of destruction in the first place. She's an ancient old woman, and the royal family puts a lot of faith in her predictions.
