Tegiru is the second son of the Roun royal family, and was named heir over his older brother. He is insecure about his own authority over the people of Hokkan, and so is a bit of a tyrant. When he first took the throne, there were rebellions, because the people wanted Temudan to rule. These rebels were killed, and talking against his sovregnity is treason punishable by death. He keeps his elder brother under house arrest, and saying the name Temudan in his presence is forbidden. He doesn't want the Priestess to assert her sovregnity over the country, or to share his power with the Seishi. Really, he just doesn't want to share anything with any one. He is superstisious and was the one who perpetrated the rumours that the Genbu Seishi would destroy the country. He keeps Tegu imprisoned to protect himself against the other Seishi (originally under threat of killing Haagasu, but it seems that Tegu has since become near comatose and doesn't really do much, unless it's spontaneously singing, which generally angers Tegiru). When he first obtained Tegu, he attempted to perform the summoning of Genbu using Tegu alone. He doesn't truly understand the Seishi, their purpose, or their power, but keeps Tegu and the scroll for the universe of the four gods carefully hidden. |
